The following is a really good but fairly basic explanation of the Third Eye Chakra.
Meaning – Your connection with Source, God, The Universe or whatever name you wish to use here. You can also use it as an opportunity for you to really tune into your intuition and take note of your inner guidance. All the answers are inside of you!
Purpose – For you to really tune into your intuition and take note of your inner guidance. For some people this one can bring visions, lucid dreaming and other lovely experiences.
Body Part – Eyes, Pituitary Gland, Nose, Ears and a very important one – the Pineal Gland
Associated medical problems – issues in or around the eyes, ears and nose are often associated with this chakra.
Located – In between your eyebrows and in the centre of your forehead. If it is open, you will feel it almost taking over your forehead!
Colour – Purple or Indigo like the night’s sky
Crystals – Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli and other purple or dark blue crystals.
Sound Frequency – operates best at 448Hz. A good thing to do to maintain, heal or enhance your Third Eye Chakra is to listen to music at this frequency. There are plenty of video’s available online these days. This one is a 9 hour Third Eye Chakra healing video that I like to put on whilst I sleep. If you do have a listen, try to tune into the music for a more profound healing experience. Additionally, this will also help you stay focussed on the present moment and prevent your mind from wondering.
Scents – Geranium, Lavender, Frankincense, Cedarwood and many others
My Personal Experience
Well, as I have practiced opening this chakra over the years, I have certainly had more and more profound experiences!
Nowadays, I use my Third Eye Chakra to delve into my intuition at a deeper level. I often receive downloads of what I need to do or some other action I need to take, like changing a behaviour that is no longer serving me.
In addition, I feel it is this chakra, that is used to communicate with my Ancestors and Guides. When I can feel the energy circulating and my Third Eye totally open, great wisdom comes through. This is always an amazing experience for me and exceptionally humbling.
Recently, I have been experiencing it at a much larger scale than usual, as so many of you will have too.
I have heard some people say the Pineal Gland and the Third Eye Chakra are the same thing and whilst I respect everyone’s opinion, I do not resonate with this. I have connected to both and they feel very separate for me, both on a functional level and their locations in my head. Maybe I am wrong and will be proved wrong one day but as it stands, they do not feel as one for me.
Funnily enough, in a meditation, I was guided to connect them one day and then to my Heart Chakra and that was a truly amazing experience, but also a story for another day.

Here are a set of wonderful Affirmations from a person I have a lot of love and time for – Louise Hay. Furthermore, when I read these, my heart and soul always come back into alignment, regardless of what problems or issues I am going through.
